My Third Annual PAX South Trip!

I went to PAX South both in 2016 and in 2017. And this year was no different from those past experiences: it was wonderful!

Just like last year, the Enforcers were incredibly wonderful and helpful and went out of their way to look out for me and get me where I needed to be at any given time. Even if we were late to something (because sometimes it’s a struggle to get through crowds when you’re in a wheelchair), we were taken care of and I’m so so very thankful to every single person who helped us. This year I even got to meet and give a big hug to Kristin Lindsay, head of the Enforcers and now a good friend. She’s wonderful and her Enforcers are wonderful – they make PAX what it is.

Unlike last year, we were only able to go one day instead of the usual three day weekend. My health has gotten a little worst than what it was a year ago so one day is all I can do now for an event like this. Thankfully, our good friends Claire and Pete let us crash in their hotel room the night before so we drove down Friday night and then got to spend all of Saturday at the con. We have very good friends.

Onto some pictures of our fun time!

Furry Husband and I in our usual selfie pose.

I love Kristin!! Can you tell I was happy?

2nd PAX South with Kari!

Our friend Pegastar was an Omeganaut this year!

Michael Dante DiMartino!!

Little did I know when I took this picture that this would become my favorite game of 2018.

I’m not the only one super excited for this dating sim right?

I mean. LOOK AT THIS.

MONSTER HUNTER WORLD!

Every year we pick a new game to take home. Kodama is so much fun!

Look at these adorable illustrations.

My fave cosplayers!! They’re so talented and so nice and told me to get into the picture with them. :D

My PAX goodies! I love my Sanshee Tank Baby.

New dice!! (Of course.)

I also live-tweeted/wrote notes on two of the panels that we went to that I really loved you. “I R LARP & So Can You” was a panel put on by one of our LARPing friends Riley & his pal and it did an excellent job on highlighting the things it takes to get a LARP off the ground. You can find my LARP101 tweet thread here. I also took notes on a really insightful Worldbuilding Panel that was put on partially by Michael Dante DiMartino, the co-creator of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra (we might have gone just for him, but I’m glad we did because the content was so good). You can find the notes that I kept on my phone (there was no wifi) here on this Worldbuilding tweet thread.

It was such a fun day and I’m so thankful we were able to go. Unfortunately when I got home, I once again caught the PAX pox like I do every year AND THEN was hit with that really awful strain of influenza that’s been running rampant through Texas. It’s been a while since I was THAT sick from a bug. I went almost a full month without leaving the house after PAX, but thankfully I’m better and am back to my usual video-gaming playing, DnD-rolling self. We’re back to our usual schedule of two DnD campaigns a week and it makes me happy (especially since this is literally the only real life social interaction I ever get).

I’m so thankful I got to attend PAX South this year and I’m already looking forward to what next year’s event will bring.
