Twitter

I got a twitter a long time ago, but I’ve only recently started abusing it to its full extent. I simply forgot it existed. Now, I don’t have that problem (I sound like a bad infomercial). I downloaded Twitterfox, a plug-in for Mozilla Firefox. It’s really cool, and makes it incredibly easy to update my twitter at any moment. Speaking of my twitter, it’s here.

But yeah. I’ve jumped on the Twitter bandwagon. I want to take it one more step. Does anyone know of a good wordpress plug-in that will show my tweets (that sounds dirty) on my sidebar? I found a couple, but I’d like to hear other opinions.

What do you think?

Edit: Okay, so I just used Twitter’s code instead of a plug-in. It works fabulous! Go me.

SPAM-A-LOT!

And no, not the Monty Python kind.

I just spent a good three hours sitting in front of my laptop, finally going through the enormous backlog of spam comments that have been building up over the summer. Why do people spam? Is it like telemarketing? Do they get paid for ever comment or email they send out? Whatever the reason, I have a few things to say to these telespammers.

First off. Yes, I’m a lesbian. I like girls. And while I appreciate your thoughtfulness in linking me to several hundred lesbian porn sites, I’m really not that into watching other girls do it – especially in some of the ways you describe in such detail. And I am not at all into watching gay men do it, so from now on, maybe you could hold back on those sites. It’s not exactly up my alley, if you know what I mean.

Second. I’m a sucker for comments. So you definitely fool me every once in awhile when you say what a great site I have, or the article I wrote was fascinating, but could you maybe do it without posting a link to car dealership or an online cooking site that doesn’t really lead anywhere? I like cooking, but I’m not going to take a class online for it. It also kind of disrupts the flow of the comment when you link it mid-sentence. “Your site is [link]blackberry iphone![/link] awesome!” That doesn’t exactly help your disguise as a normal reader.

And finally, to my non-English writing spammers. I don’t know what you’re saying anyway, so maybe it’s not worth your time to spam me. Try some other site in Russian.

Okay, off to do real work. And by real work, I mean putting on music and procrastinating on cleaning the house.

(Also, I maybe have accidentally deleted some real comments in the midst of this – if you’ve commented recently maybe you should check to make sure it’s there now. If not, post again! Unless you’re a spammer…)

PINK!

I’ve only done this once before, and I think that was like 2005. But it’s for a good cause so I’m doing it again.

CoyoteDreams has gone pink! That’s right, it’s October, which means it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Web sites will Go Pink during the month of October to bring attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, get people talking about breast cancer, and raise money for research. But to be clear, raising money isn’t the primary purpose of this web event. The hope is that you turn your site pink (in whatever way works for your site), educate yourself about the multiple issues related to Breast Cancer, then take that knowledge and tell someone else what you’ve learned.

Check out Pink For October. Learn more. Spread the message.

And yet another Political post.

Apparently I can’t help but talk about my political standpoint. I admit it – Obama is slowly growing on me. At first, I couldn’t stand either candidate, though Obama had some good points on social equality and McCain had a good stance on environmental awareness. But McCain’s decision of Sarah Palin as a running mate cemented my vote for Obama.

Now there’s even more that has opened my eyes to what life would be like if McCain succeeded in becoming president.

McCain on Gay Rights.

I am deeply disappointed, but at the same time, hopeful that Obama will win. His continuing support of America’s Gay citizens (and the equality of all people) has gained him a vote from this lesbian blogger. I wasn’t too sure of his pick of Joe Biden, but Biden has experience in politics that will help Obama in the long run I think. He needs to have that sort of backing, even though his lack of experience has slowly started to fade the more I hear him talk and the more I read.

Anyway, back to work. I really need to start blogging more.
