The Family Menagerie!

The Dead Walking.

Woke up at 6am, drove Ash to work, and then came home and tried to sleep for an hour only this proved to be more difficult than it sounds. Why? Because once I started coughing I couldn’t stop. The half-sputter I’ve had this past week has turned into a full-blown hacking up a lung and pieces of heart. So I went to the doctor and found out I have yet another sinus infection and that I should stay inside as much as possible because my cold-induced asthma is making the whole thing worse. Which means that I have an official excuse to not go to my final scenario tonight. My professor says he understands and he’s going to work with the other heads about what I can do to make it up. Thank goodness everyone in the Outdoor Ed department all know my insane medical history.

I’ve got two prescriptions to pick up now, but I think I’m just going to pass out for a bit before I attempt to clean the bedroom and the rest of the house. I’m exhausted. This cough has sucked all my energy away and my arms, I swear to you, weigh at least a ton each. The effort I am making to lift my fingers to type this is comparable to the effort I make to keep Merlin off the counter -and let me tell you, THAT’S A LOT. You can’t take your eyes off that cat or you’ll find him with his head in a pot of spaghetti on the stove. Still heating. NOT KIDDING.

Someday I’ll post a picture of the charred remains of what was once a very cute, though highly destructive kitten.

And then I’ll get hate mail.

I’m going to bed.

I found Godzilla in the Sky.

Can I just say, I am NOT looking forward to tomorrow? Well, I said it anyway. Tomorrow is gonna suck. Ash works 6:30am to 6pm and I have my final scenario for Search and Rescue, so I’ll be out until 3 in the morning again in negative degree weather searching the woods for some random person who may or may not be “hurt” and “lost.” It’s stupid – I shouldn’t be in this class. I’m not a rescue person and I don’t have any real wish to be one. Maybe that makes me a bad person, but I can’t help it. I don’t have the patience or immune system for this. It’s too cold. Let me go search for a lost kid in Texas and I’ll do better there. There I can breathe.

Speaking of Texas. Have another picture:

Bats!

I love bats. I’m really stoked to go see the Congress Avenue Bridge. Yay bats!

I was super productive today. I cleaned the living room, the hallway, the counters, and the kitchen. We got some of the clothes put away and I got more books packed as well as all the art supplies. And while doing all this, I also got all the blogs on Snailbird updated to WordPress 2.6.5. Go me! So far WordPress 2.7 (which has only been released for WordPress.com blogs) is really cool looking. I’ve been exploring it and for once, I actually like the change! I think it’s easier to get through and more user friendly. It’s not as simple as the old look, but it’s pretty cool looking. I can’t wait till they release it for download so I can put it up here. Yep.

Right. Off to bed and I’ll try to post tomorrow before I go die in the woods somewhere search for lost people in the woods at night. Ta.

Go Team Go!

Man, I’ve still Austin on the brain like crazy. Here, have another picture:

Lake Travis

Gorgeous.

I finally finished my black and white film portfolio and put it up and was surprised by the large amount of positive feedback I got, from my photos, and from my deeply personal artist statement I put up (in which I came out as having DID since the theme of my pictures was grounding). I’m really happy with the overall statement and quality of my prints. Maybe when I get them back I’ll put them online so others can see them.

Alright, the rest of the day will be dedicated to cleaning (and going to my usual Thursday therapy). Good luck to us. We will get this house in order!

Texas on my Mind.

I know I’ve been a grouch the last few days and I apologize. Today has actually been quite a good day. I skipped out on a boring class to make some money this morning, and I had a sudden realization as I sat at the computer creating the new Alumni 2009 Reunion brochure. I’m going to be in Texas in a few weeks. I’m going to be in Austin, Texas with my Ash celebrating Christmas. Texas! You have no idea how excited I am over this. I was almost screaming with happiness at Ash over the phone when I figured it out. Texas. Oh I can’t wait.

Texas

And on an entirely different, and more geeky note, who else is excited for WordPress 2.7? I still haven’t updated to 2.6.5, but I’ll try and squeeze that in tonight among all the packing and cleaning that has taken over the house. I have to get mine updated as well as Ash’s, Meg’s, and Mac’s (the SBird Crew as I refer to them as in my own little world). Gotta love WordPress. How can anyone say Blogger is better?

Alright, I’m gonna work for another half an hour and then head over to the dark room to make my final prints for tomorrow’s class. That way I have roughly three to four hours to get some work done there before I pick up Ash from the kennels. Okay, go team!
