The Girl Who Silenced the World

Sixteen years ago at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (Earth Summit) in Rio de Janeiro, Severn Cullis-Suzuki was twelve years old. The founder of the Environmental Children’s Organization (ECO), she was there to speak to all the adults and tell them exactly what was on her mind.

She is now thirty years old, a published author, a celebrated environmental activist, and her words ring true to this very day. We still have a lot to learn.

(Many thanks to BitRebels for the introducing me to this video.)

Muppets Do Queen: Bohemian Style

Because if you know me, you’ll know I love all things Jim Henson. And Queen. And that’s really all you need to know to continue with this post..

Have to finish up some comics. I’ll do that this week. Ash and I and the pups are driving to Tennessee tonight (and the better part of tomorrow I suspect). It’s a 16 hour straight shot, let’s see if we can do it. Have a great Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate it (and have a great weekend to everyone else).

Geekery at its Best (and Hottest)!

I’m one of those rare species referred to as a “Girl Gamer” (though, seriously, I honestly don’t think we’re so rare – I know A LOT of girl gamers and to think that we’re a minority is kind of insulting). My drug game of choice? World of Warcraft. Both Ash and I have been out of commission for the past year I think for lack of funds, but in the coming weeks we’ll be starting up our characters again (the sole reason of my getting an office job is to pay for my addictions, you see). I hesitate to give our out names and server because it is more likely we’ll be switching soon and starting anew since it’s been so long (though I’m not sure I want to give up my Glenwyn Belf quite yet). In any case, I’ll keep you informed (because you care).

The other reason for this post. This:

Because there’s always that slim chance that someone has not seen it, I thought I’d post it (again? I think? I’m pretty sure I already posted this when it first came out but I can’t find the original entry).

Come on. Felicia Day? In character? Hot. (Also, be sure to check out The Guild. Funny stuff.)

BLOG OF DOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Okay not really, but maybe that got your attention. Remember when I said I was going camping and I lied and stayed home instead? Yeah, well now instead of telling you I’d be gone, I just up and deserted the blog. I’m actually in Austin at the moment – I drove another car-full of crap down to storage and I also had an interview (which I must say was probably the best experience I’ve ever had in an interview – everyone was so chill and laid back and easy to laugh). I’m going back to the good old Smokey Mountains on Sunday, but until then, I’ve been hanging out with Ash’s family, going to a Queen Sing-a-Long with her brother (you are all so jealous of my stick-on Freddie Mercury mustache), and attempting to not melt my brain in this heat (and gosh, it’s hot!). I’ve also been looking through the paper and online trying to find us a place to stay. Tonight I’m going out to dinner with Ash’s dad, and tomorrow her sister and I are going to go house hunting.

All of this is to say that there is a reason behind my lack of blog posts (though it is by no means an excuse since I was going to try and have some set up to post while I was gone but I simply ran out of time and, well, didn’t do it). Hopefully you can forgive me – I’ll try and make up for it in the coming weeks by posting at least once a day when I get home.

This post is so sad you don’t even get a picture. No time, no time. But to make up for it, have a really bizarre Jackie Chan commercial.

I’m still not quite sure what just happened, but Jackie Chan kicking butt on a Segway? There’s nothing else quite as cool.

Picked up my sister from the airport and the dogs promptly mauled her when she got through the doors. With kisses of course. I <3 my sister! My Twitter
