VICTORY for Connecticut!

Victory in at least one more state. That makes what? Three now? Great. Three out of Fifty.

“Today is really a great day for equality in Connecticut,” said Bennett Klein, senior lawyer at Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders, which argued the case before the Supreme Court. “Today’s decision really fulfills the hopes and dreams of gay and lesbian couples in Connecticut to live as full and equal citizens.”

That’s right. Connecticut Ruling Overturns Ban on Gay Marriage. You go, CT!

The part I really like about this article is that it talks about the difference between Civil Unions and Marriage. They are not the same thing. If they were, would we really need to have different names? No. There are some couples who want marriage because of what it means – tradition, a cultural ideal – yes, it’s just a word. But all words have meaning. Civil Unions are not Marriages.

We have a long way to go, but we’re getting there. Slowly but surely.
